"Two shadowy forms appeared. Between them, they pulled something flat, heavy, and square; one of its edges scratched against the rough stone floor. Then they stopped, gripped the bars, and called for him. Inside black cowls, Jack saw malformed faces and small piggy eyes. Their foreheads bulged; their skewed smiles curved grossly round their faces, and their limbs - partially hidden behind threadbare cloaks - were out of proportion to their hunched, stunted bodies."
